Strong Password Generator

Create strong random passwords with full control over the mix.

Weak passwords are still the easiest way accounts get taken over. This free password generator creates strong random passwords in your browser, using your device's built-in cryptography. Pick the length, choose letters, digits, and symbols, and decide whether to leave out confusing characters like 0 and O. Every password includes each character type you select. Nothing is sent or saved anywhere, so the passwords you generate exist only on your screen. Pair it with a password manager and turn on two-factor authentication for real protection.

About Password Generator

The single most effective thing you can do for your online security is also the simplest: use a different, genuinely random password for every account. Nobody can memorize dozens of those, and that's the point, you're not supposed to. This generator creates them for you: set a length anywhere from 8 to 64 characters, toggle uppercase, lowercase, digits, and symbols, and get passwords guaranteed to include each character type you selected.

The randomness comes from your browser's cryptographic random number generator, not the weaker generator used for games and animations. You can generate up to 20 at a time, which is handy when rotating credentials across several accounts, and the exclude-ambiguous option strips lookalikes like I, l, 1, O, and 0 for passwords you'll need to read or type by hand.

Aim for 16 characters with all four character types for important accounts. If a site rejects symbols or caps the length at some arbitrary number, regenerate with adjusted settings rather than editing the result by hand, hand edits weaken passwords in predictable ways. And the essential companion step: copy each password straight into a password manager. A generated password only helps if you can actually use it without reusing it.

Tips for best results

  • 16 characters with all four types is a strong default for important accounts.
  • If a site rejects symbols, regenerate with symbols toggled off rather than editing by hand.
  • Use exclude-ambiguous when you'll read the password aloud or type it from print.
  • Batch-generate when resetting multiple accounts, then label each one in your password manager.
  • Don't trim or "memorize" the result. Copy it straight into a password manager.
  • Check a site's maximum length first; some cap passwords at 20–32 characters.
