About Speed Converter
Speed is measured differently depending on where you stand and what you're doing. Drivers think in miles or kilometers per hour, sailors and pilots in knots, physicists in meters per second, and runners don't think in speed at all, but in pace: minutes per kilometer or per mile.
This converter handles all of them, including running pace. Enter a pace as decimal minutes, 5.5 means 5 minutes 30 seconds, and the result displays in the familiar m:ss format runners actually use. That makes it easy to translate a training plan written in min/km into min/mi, or to find out what speed in km/h a 4:30/km tempo actually demands (13.3, if you're curious).
Type your speed or pace, pick the from and to units, and flip direction with the swap button. The reference numbers worth memorizing: 1 mph equals 1.60934 km/h, and 1 knot, one nautical mile per hour, equals 1.852 km/h. Useful the next time a rental car's speedometer, a race plan, or a weather report hands you units you don't think in.

Tips for best results
- Multiply mph by 1.609 to get km/h, handy when driving abroad with an unfamiliar speedometer.
- Convert pace to speed with 60 ÷ pace: a 5:00/km pace is exactly 12 km/h.
- Race plans in min/mile but you think in min/km? Convert once and write both on your hand for race day.
- Knots matter in aviation and sailing: a 20-knot wind is about 37 km/h, not 20 of anything else.
- For speed limits abroad, convert the posted limit before you drive, fines don't accept unit confusion as an excuse.
- Enter pace as decimal minutes (5.5 = 5:30); the tool shows results in m:ss format.
